The 2019-2020 winners!
This past year, the Scholarship Committee chose 2 winners from numerous entries. Our two very worthy winners were announced at the Headwaters Arts Fall Festival Gala on Thursday Sept. 17, 2020. Both students were present to accept their awards.
For Music – Maya Mattar
Maya attended Erin District High School and had a keen interest in both science and music from an early age. She was active in her music courses and school bands, still takes piano lessons as well as was active in the Guelph Youth Dance Program.
She has been accepted at McMaster University in the Integrated Science Program where she will conduct research on the benefits of music to the brain to aid patients with neurological disorders.
For Literature – Katie Kanters
Katie attended Orangeville District Secondary School and has always had a passion for reading and writing. Outside of school courses Katie has attended writer’s workshops to further her craft in writing.
